The 2nd CENEM Summer School for X-ray Scattering will be held at the chair for crystallography and structural physics from 18th to 21st of July 2016. This school will provide a perfect opportunity to get a detailed insight into theory and practice of several modern scattering methods as e.g. powder diffraction, small angle X-ray scattering, surface scattering using a grazing incident X-ray beam, and reflectometry. This includes lessons about the basic principles of scattering of X-rays, methodological background of the diverse methods, but also data reduction and data evaluation. Half of the time will be devoted to hands-on training and demonstration experiments at several of our state-of-the-art laboratory instruments.
It is intended to include a discussion with the participants of the school about the application of X-ray scattering in their own research. The participants are therefore requested to complement their application with an abstract of about 150 words highlighting their research interests in the context of X-ray scattering. Furthermore, we encourage the applicants to propose an exciting scientific experiment linked to their own research which could be addressed during the school.
Due to limitations of our capacity for the practical courses, only 16 researchers can be accepted for the school in this year. We expect the completely filled application form including the abstract to be sent to Dennis.Noll@fau.de not later than the indicated application deadline.
Application deadline: June 03rd 2016
Decision about participation: June 10st 2016
Fee: 400 €; Members of EAM and FAU exempt from charge
Please send your application and abstract to Dennis.Noll@fau.de
